Watercolour- The Glory of Peony
Shine the Life of Flower in Watercolours
Live flowers are a particular challenge subject in most art media. Especially for the peony project here, it requires close observation and a careful gradation techniques.
As a symbol of queen in flowers world, peony carries many layers of petals, variety of forms and sense of textures. To paint flower like this includes a lot of reds which need our hand to evoke the fresh life of nature in watercolours.
I would like to demonstrate the way to capture a wide range of reds in peony and greens behind, both warm and cool, as well as the analysis of colour theory based on what we may learn from.
Visual editing is another important skill to be covered in this lesson. We are not trying to make a botanical drawing, the suggestive life and believable representation is the key to guide you turning complicated objects into manageable forms. This is a flexibility and enjoyable of art creative journey.
